One Point Five Plus
We started with the idea of creating individual flags as a form of protest and in hopes of documenting social engagement within the community. Creating these flags meant uniting and belonging. It meant maintaining your cultural individuality while welcoming any community you see yourself belonging to. With a simple logo consisting of an 8-bit heart we created an underlying grid system for the template of our flags.
Invitations were sent out to friends, families, and strangers asking the following:
We invite you to collaborate with us in the #FLAGTAG project and create a flag that identifies with you. Along with your design, we would like a brief description as to why you chose specific colors and shapes to represent your flag as well as a short introduction to who you are and what you do. We are very appreciative of your trust in this process and of your willingness to contribute to a project that’s a bit untraditional in its approach. Your final design will be outsourced to be carefully sewn together. We will then tie these flags around various posts in LosAngeles and printouts of the design will be wheat pasted into a flag collage around the city.
